It's raining here. Actually it has pretty much been raining off and on since we got here. This morning we awoke to the sounds of construction. No clue what they were doing, but from the looks of it they were remodeling the apartment next to us. After a quick shower I headed upstairs to drop off my laundry, which both of us desperately needed since we were down to the last of everything. Once we had finished dropping everything off, we grabbed our rain jackets and headed for the train to Hong Kong Disney. The rain was literally coming down in sheets so we hugged close to the building and did our best to dodge as much of it as we could on our way to the train. In an effort to save some money we bought 24hr passes on the MTR line. In the end we will probably only save a lousy 3 U.S dollars, but its the feeling of savings that makes it all worth it.
After about 45 min on the MTR and Disney Resort line we arrived at Hong Kong Disney. It was still drizzling, but was not raining nearly as hard as when we left the hostel. The good news for us is that the rain kept both the crowds and the temperatures pretty low for most of the day. Overall the park is a lot smaller than any of the others and is comprised of just three main areas with Sleeping Beauty's castle at the center (it is small like the one in California). I am not sure why they did it, but there really is only about a half day of stuff to do so we set out to make quick work of it. We headed over Tomorrow Land and cheated the system by using the single rider line for space mountain. We were literally on the ride in 3 min and ended up sitting next to each other because a large group wanted their own coaster. It honestly was the darkest space mountain I have ever ridden and both of us felt pretty disoriented when we hobbled off the ride... I know pretty pathetic. After that I kicked Chris's ass in Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters 599,00 to like 266,000.. no contest. From there we jumped on it's a small world and then got lunch. Since we were running low on rides I convinced Chis to check out Mickey's PhilharMagic show and it was a good thing we did. For those who don't know it is a 3D movie where stuff comes out at the crowd. Honestly the show is pretty cool normally, but these people went crazy making it hilarious. I am not kidding kids and adults alike were standing out of their chairs reaching at the screen, especially when the jewels were floating out in front of them. I am not sure if they had never seen anything like it before or if that is the normal reaction around here to a 3D movie. On the way out the parade started so we stopped to see it. It was supposed to be Mickey's Waterworks parade where the crowd gets sprayed from the floats, but sadly due to weather it became the rainy day express and was comprised of an annoying song and one long train of characters. Check out Chris's video... it is pretty awful. The last stop was at the pin trading store to grab some pins for my sister and then we set out back to the train. We only spend about 4 hrs in the park and could have probably done everything including shows in 5.5hrs, but we had to get back to pick up our laundry before the front desk closed.
Got back around 5:30 and got the laundry. Once that was done we laid around for a little while watching some TV and that's about it. We are now in an internet cafe finally uploading all the pictures from China and Hong Kong. We leave for Bangkok tomorrow. Luckily we made a last minute change in our accommodations when we found out the hostel we were headed too had no AC so hopefully the new place will be better.
